Making the World's Knowledge Computable
Wolfram|Alpha's long-term goal is to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable and accessible to everyone. We aim to collect and curate all objective data; implement every known model, method, and algorithm; and make it possible to compute whatever can be computed about anything. Our goal is to build on the achievements of science and other systematizations of knowledge to provide a single source that can be relied on by everyone for definitive answers to factual queries.

Levels of Sketching
"Take this for example, you’re in a restaurant on a lunch break and something comes to mind. You quickly jot it down on a scraggly napkin so that you don’t forget the idea. That sketch too has its purpose. Although it could be the killer idea of a lifetime, the communication may be lacking from you to the client and may be more of a self communication tool."

Vocagrabber
How does Vocabgrabber work?
"VocabGrabber analyzes any text you're interested in, generating lists of the most useful vocabulary words and showing you how those words are used in context. Just copy text from a document and paste it into the box, and then click on the "Grab Vocabulary!" button. VocabGrabber will automatically create a list of vocabulary from your text, which you can then sort, filter, and save.
Select any word on the list and you'll see a snapshot of the Visual Thesaurus map and definitions for that word, along with examples of the word in your text. Click on the word map or the highlighted word in the example to see the Visual Thesaurus in action.
Want to try it out? Click on one of our sample texts to fill the box and start grabbing!"

A Model of The Creative Process
The creative process is not just iterative; it’s also recursive. It plays out “in the large” and “in the small”—in defining the broadest goals and concepts and refining the smallest details. It branches like a tree, and each choice has ramifications, which may not be known in advance. Recursion also suggests a procedure that “calls” or includes itself. Many engineers define the design process as a recursive function:
discover > define > design > develop > deploy

What is information?
A very neat and original animated infographic film about the concept of information. It was created by Maya Design, a design consultancy and technology research lab. Although most of us think we know what we mean when we say "information," the movie claims we sometimes confuse the medium with the message.

How do you design? a compendium of models
A range of easy-to-understand-Innowiz-like design process representations to very complex process models
"Everyone designs. The teacher arranging desks for a discussion. The entrepreneur planning a business. The team building a rocket.
Their results differ. So do their goals. So do the scales of their projects and the media they use. Even their actions appear quite different. What’s similar is that they are designing. What’s similar are the processes they follow."

The 10 1/2 Commandments of Visual Thinking - DAN ROAM
“Visual thinking is the future of business problem solving. Using our innate ability to see—both with our eyes and our mind’s eye—gives us entirely new ways to discover hidden ideas, develop those ideas intuitively, and then share those ideas with other people in a way they are simply going to ‘get.’” Dan Roam

Nothing is Original - Jim Jarmusch
This is the fifth rule of Jim Jarmusch, an independent film director, his golden rules:
Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”

The European Year of Creativity and Innovation
"Creativity is often associated solely with artists and fine arts, whereas innovation is often thought to be about technological progress in manufacturing only. The European Year of Creativity and Innovation allows us to look at these concepts from different angles," reflected European Commission Vice-President Günter Verheugen, responsible for Enterprise and Industry policy.
"The challenges that Europe and other parts of the world are facing today are tremendous - climate change, poverty, globalisation and the current economic slowdown, just to mention a few. Tackling these complex challenges will require new knowledge as well as new approaches to combining existing knowledge and finding holistic solutions," he added.
"The European Year of Creativity and Innovation will influence the policy debate and encourage co-operation between policy-makers and enterprises on how to harness the creative potential of humans for economic and societal purposes,"[ +link]
